At the invitation of the Australian Embassy to Cambodia, Her Excellency Long Sonita, Vice-President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), representing His Excellency Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the CHRC, attended a panel discussion (LGBTQIA + Pride Month Panel Discussion) on Tuesday morning, 11 June 2024.

Her Excellency Long Sonita praised LGBT individuals as part of human resources for Cambodia and contributed to the economic and social development, especially in maintaining peace. She called upon all compatriots not to discriminate or oppose them, but instead to encourage them to develop themselves and become good citizens for the entire communities for the purpose of promoting gender equality and eliminating discrimination against them. In addition, she also expressed her deep gratitude for the efforts of the head of the Royal Government as well as the leaders at all levels who always pay attention to promoting gender equality and protecting everyone from all forms of discrimination. She also expressed her warm appreciation and gratitude to the Australian Embassy to Cambodia, which is an important cooperation partner with Cambodia.
