CHRC President HE Senior Minister Keo Remy Chaired Workshop on Dissemination of National Report on ICERD Implementation
Svay Rieng province: On the morning of Thursday, 1 August, 2024, a workshop was held to disseminate the National Report on the Implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD). This event was organised by the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) in partnership with the Svay Rieng Provincial Administration, taking place at the Provincial Hall. The workshop saw participation from various dignitaries, including provincial and district officials, departmental representatives, judges, prosecution representatives, military police, local police, prison officials, and spokespersons from different units of the provincial administration.
HE Keo Remy stated that the workshop aimed to disseminate the National Report on the Implementation of International Human Rights Conventions, as well as to outline the mechanisms, measures and major achievements of the Royal Government in protecting and promoting human rights in Cambodia, especially within the framework of eliminating all forms of racial discrimination in Cambodia. This outreach workshop also demonstrated the regular implementation of the Royal Government’s international obligations as a member state of the United Nations. The workshop was expected to provide the sub-national units with a clearer understanding of the Royal Government’s efforts in this regard, which would serve as a basis for responding to a number of issues distorted beyond the truth about human rights abuses in Cambodia, which misleads the public over the leadership of the Royal Government.
