With the permission from His Excellency Keo Remy, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister, and President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), on the morning of Thursday, 8 June 2023, His Excellency Katta Orn, member of the CHRC, made a presentation at the workshop to review the results achieved in the implementation of the Cambodia’s universal periodic review (UPR) recommendations from the third cycle, at the invitation of the Cambodian Centre for Human Rights (CCHR).

This workshop was organised by the CCHR to:

– provide a forum for representatives of civil society organisations, according to their sector, to participate in discussions and reflect on the results of advocacy achieved in the third cycle of the UPR process;
– verify the results achieved in the implementation of the UPR recommendations according to their sector;
– develop plans and set priorities in relation to new recommendations in preparation for the fourth cycle of the UPR process.

During the workshop, His Excellency Katta Orn presented the third cycle of the UPR report, the mid-term UPR report, the challenges of the global COVID-19 epidemic, which makes ministries, institutions, the private sector and the public adhere to health measures; this makes the implementation of activities difficult and requires time for further implementation.

His Excellency [Katta Orn] also mentioned the next action plan by strengthening and expanding the transparent and effective implementation of the National Action Plan, the action plan, and the roles and responsibilities of the ministries and institutions.
