HE Pa Ponnarada Participated in AICHR Regional Consultation on Enhancing ASEAN’s Human Rights Mechanisms for the Effective Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, in Putrajaya, Malaysia

Putrajaya: HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) and Cambodia’s Representative to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), appointed HE Pa Ponnarada, CHRC member and Cambodia’s Deputy Representative to the AICHR, to head a two-CHRC member working group, HE Chin Angkearith and Mr Doc Dom, to the AICHR Regional Consultation on Enhancing ASEAN’s Human Rights Mechanisms for the Effective Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, which took place on 22-23 September 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia, with the participation of the representatives of ASEAN member countries to the AICHR, Timor Leste (observer), representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat, national human rights institutions, ASEAN sectoral institutions, civil society organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.
This regional consultation aims to reflect on the progress and challenges in strengthening ASEAN’s human rights mechanisms to promote and protect human rights, exploring and discussing ASEAN Centrality’s role in shaping human rights standards in the region, especially in reinforcing human rights mechanisms and finding ways to further develop the capacity of ASEAN human rights mechanisms.
