HE Long Sonita Delivered Opening Speech at the event “Let’s Join SDGs Movement.”
Phnom Penh: HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), assigned HE Long Sonita, CHRC Vice President, to deliver an opening speech at the event “Let’s Join the SDGs Movement,” with the participation of Mr Nagase Kensuke, Chargé d’ Affaires of the Embassy of Japan to Cambodia, Ms Sandra Bernklau, Representative of UNFPA-Cambodia, and Mr Endo Fumihiko, Managing Director of AEON Mall (Cambodia) Co. Ltd., and distinguished guests from the Royal Government ministries and institutions, educational institutions, civil society, and the private sector on 31 October 2025 at AEON Mall, Meanchey, Phnom Penh. This marks the third occasion of cooperation between AEON Mall Cambodia and the United Nations in Cambodia, highlighting the country’s dedication to advancing education and dialogue related to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Taking this opportunity, she stated that, under the leadership of Samdach Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Royal Government of Cambodia continues its national development policies and strategies, which are in line with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, under the spirit of “leaving no one behind.” This highlighted the promotion of human rights and the building of equal opportunities for all.
She also emphasised the CHRC’s work alongside relevant ministries, institutions, and partners to promote and safeguard human rights in order to meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. This includes (1) enhancing the legal and institutional frameworks to protect vulnerable groups; (2) maintaining efforts to integrate human rights into development policies; (3) sustaining collaboration with United Nations and international human rights bodies; and (4) encouraging public involvement of vulnerable communities.
