The Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) would like to inform the public that Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, are always concerned about the well-being and safety of the 18 Cambodian soldiers who have been detained by the Thai military.

The CHRC, acting as the staff of the Cambodian Government on human rights in Cambodia, has submitted another urgent petition to Dr Ganna Yudkivska, the Chair of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, requesting the working group to:
1. conduct a study of this case urgently and issue a statement that this case is illegal detention;
2. release and repatriate them immediately;
3. monitor and track compliance with international human rights obligations by Thai authorities;
4. remind the Thai side to respect obligations under the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights and the 1949 Geneva Convention; and
5. include this case in the annual report of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
