For the 17th Time HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the CHRC, Visited Orphan and Poor Children at the COCD

Kandal province: On the morning of 7 June 2025, it was the 17th time that HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), accompanied by the CHRC dignitaries and civil servants, came to visit and chat, bringing some money and food supplies, along with 15 volunteer doctors who examined the oral health of 47 children, including 20 girls currently staying at the Cambodian Organisation for Children Development (COCD) in Phum Prek Treng, Sangkat Sitbo, Krung Takhmau, Kandal province. The funds contributed were provided by kind-hearted donors who supports the humanitarian efforts of the CHRC. It should be noted that some of the children residing in this organisation were relocated from prisons and correctional facilities through the coordination of the CHRC, with the approval of their mothers who are detainees, allowing these children to enjoy their fundamental rights like other kids.
This visit aims to support the organisation by alleviating its challenges and ensuring that children living there have better opportunities to enjoy their fundamental rights, including health and education, with equality and equity. It also seeks to protect them from all forms of harassment and violence, in line with the Royal Government’s policy, which always promotes equal opportunities for everyone to grow and develop without discrimination. This activity realises the aspirations of the Royal Government, guided by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and further led by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipdei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, ensuring that no one is left behind. Children are the most precious asset of society and the world, representing the greatest hope and a vital beacon for the future and humanity.
Ms Chhouk Seiha, COCD Director, stated that HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, serves as a role model and leader who consistently cares for poor, needy, and disadvantaged students, especially for orphans and impoverished children. As a matter of fact, the children in the organisation require various forms of support from the leadership and His Excellency the Senior Minister. This generous act by His Excellency the Senior Minister reflects his compassion, love, and dedication to improving the lives of citizens, aligning with the Royal Government’s policy under the Samdech Moha Borvor Thipdei Hun Manet’s leadership to alleviate poverty among the Cambodian people.
During the visit, His Excellency the Senior Minister encouraged all the children to heed advice, maintain their health, and diligently pursue their studies to prepare for a better future and become responsible members of society. He also urged the organisation’s management and staff to continue providing excellent care for the children and to strictly prevent any violations of their rights, thereby supporting the Royal Government’s efforts to develop human capital, which is a pillar of the nation’s growth and development.
Finally, His Excellency the Senior Minister reiterated that he would strive to raise funds from various philanthropists to support the organisation and call on all donors to join in this effort, highlighting that such support reflects a culture of generosity, humanitarian spirit, and the promotion of children’s rights. Additionally, His Excellency the Senior Minister expressed gratitude to all leaders and philanthropists, expressing confidence that they would continue and even increase their support for future charity initiatives organised by the CHRC, aimed at benefiting the New Smile of Hope Children Association, Kantha Bopha Hospital, elderly care groups, and organisations assisting orphans and impoverished children, etc.
