Excellency Keo Remy held talks with athlete Chhun Bunthorn who won a gold medal
On the afternoon of Tuesday, 16 May 2023, at the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), His Excellency Keo Remy, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister, and President of the CHRC, held talks with athlete Chhun Bunthorn who won a gold medal in the men’s 800-metre running event on the afternoon of 11 May 2023 at the Morodok Techo Stadium in the 32nd Cambodia-hosted SEA Games.
Mr Duong Meas Chamroeun, President of the Cambodian Athletic Volunteer Federation, said [we] are very proud that [we] have received the gold medal in athletics for which we have been waiting for 65 years. He thanked His Excellency Keo Remy and the CHRC for providing the focus on the athletes and allowing the Cambodian Athletic Volunteer Federation to meet.
Athlete Chhun Bunthorn said he is very honoured that he did not expect that he was able to do this, adding during training he was determined to die on the training ground and vowed to continue more training.
His Excellency Keo Remy advised athlete Chhun Bunthorn to undergo more training and adhere to a dignified attitude in order to be a role model for the next generation and become an Olympic athlete. On that occasion, His Excellency Keo Remy gave six million Riels to athlete Chhun Bunthorn, CHRC generosity to encouraging more training efforts.
