His Excellency Phay Heng participated in a country dialogue, the United Nations High Level Meeting on Tuberculosis 2023
On the morning of Tuesday, 29 August2023, His Excellency Phay Heng, Advisor to the Cambodian Human Rights Committee, participated in a country dialogue, the United Nations High Level Meeting on Tuberculosis 2023 presided over by Her Excellency Mean Sam An, Chairperson of the 8th Committee of the Senate, representing Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdey Say Chhum, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The dialogue was co-organised by the National Centre for Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control (CENAT) along with the World Health Organisation in Cambodia and KHANA, with technical and financial support from Stop TB Partnership and APCASO, and with the participation of His Excellency Dr Mao Tan Eang, Undersecretary of State representing His Excellency Prof Chheang Ra, Excellencies representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Excellencies and representatives from the National Senate and Assembly, ministries and relevant national institutions, CENAT Director Dr Huot Chan Yuda, Dr Deng Sirengkea representing WHO in Cambodia, Mr Chuob Sok Chamroeun, Executive Director of KHANA and COMMIT Project Manager representing the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Cambodia, ladies and gentlemen, national and international guests, and relatives representing those affected by TB.
The purposes of this country-level dialogue are to:
– share important news and updates with government institutions, UN agencies, civil society and TB People Cambodia, with the aim of strategically participating in the UN High-Level Meeting on Tuberculosis 2023.
– establish a country-level commitment to integrating the Community, Rights and Gender (CRG) mechanism into national interventions, as well as reaffirming the need for increased funding and access to medicines, diagnosis and TB vaccine.
– disseminate community and civil society calls and tools for support for the report on commitment to ending TB vs. progress of TB response.
