Phnom Penh: On the afternoon of 2 February 2026, HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), held a meeting with HE Olivier Richard, Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the CHRC meeting hall. Their discussion centred on enhancing Cambodia-France cooperation on human rights, the human rights situation in Cambodia, and the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict.

On that occasion, HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, highlighted the participation of the Royal Government of Cambodia with France in supporting the joint statement on “Universal Decriminalisation of Homosexuality.” At the same time, he mentioned the collaborative project with the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) to organise a forum promoting knowledge and experience exchange between Cambodia and Australia on LGBT rights, with an invitation extended to HE Olivier Richard, Ambassador.

In response, HE Olivier Richard, Ambassador, voiced his welcome and strong appreciation for the Royal Government of Cambodia’s efforts, which are propelling Cambodia toward significant progress and development, including in human rights, with a special focus on gender equality and LGBT rights.

Taking the opportunity, HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, briefly addressed the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute and expressed concern for the rights of more than one hundred thousand Cambodian refugees who have not yet been able to return to their homes and communities.
