The Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) inspected the human rights situation in Kampong Thom Provincial Prison
On Monday, 10 June 2024, His Excellency Keo Remy, Senior Minister and President of the CHRC, thoughtfully assigned His Excellency Reach Samrach, a member of the CHRC, to lead a [CHRC] Working Group to Kampong Thom Provincial Prison for a human rights inspection. The Working Group met with the 2nd Class Superintendent Ke Bun Hour, the director of the prison, the deputy director, and the chief of the specialised office to introduce the purpose of their visit and to receive a briefing on the situation, management, as well as other information, particularly focusing on the staying conditions of detainees; subsequently, the Working Group conducted inspections of each holding cell. During the visit, the Working Group delivered 13 types of medications donated by His Excellency Senior Minister Keo Remy for the benefit of the prison’s occupants.
