The Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) inspected the human rights situation in Siem Reap Provincial Prison
On Tuesday, 11 June 2024, His Excellency Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the CHRC, thoughtfully assigned His Excellency Reach Samrach, a member of the CHRC, to lead a [CHRC] Working Group to Siem Reap Provincial Prison for a human rights inspection. The Working Group met with the 2nd Class Superintendent Phean Chavoan, the director of the prison, the deputy director, the chief of the specialised office, and prison officials to introduce the purpose of their visit and to receive a briefing on the situation, management, as well as other information, particularly focusing on the staying conditions of detainees; subsequently, the Working Group conducted inspections of each holding cell. During the visit, the Working Group delivered 13 types of medications donated by His Excellency Senior Minister Keo Remy for the benefit of the prison’s occupants.
