Luang Prabang: HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) and Representative of Cambodia to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), assigned HE Srang Chenda and HE Chin Angkearith, CHRC members, to attend AICHR Workshop on Sharing Best Practices in the implementation of recommendations accepted in the UPR on 11-12 December 2024 in Luang Prabang, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

This AICHR workshop was organised by AICHR-Laos with the aim of providing a forum for all stakeholders, including government representatives and civil society organisations, sharing their best practices, experiences and practical lessons related to the implementation of the accepted UPR recommendations and efforts to monitor their implementation progress. The workshop also focused on the implementation of the AICHR Five-Year Work Plan 2021-2025 to promote the effective implementation of international human rights obligations undertaken by ASEAN Member States.

At the same time, HE Chin Angkearith shared the implementation of Cambodia’s UPR Recommendations, (1) cycle and the process of accepting UPR recommendations, (2) dissemination of UPR recommendations to ministries, government institutions and civil society organisations, as well as other stakeholders, and (3) case studies on the implementation of recommendations related to labour rights.

The workshop also opened a Q&A forum for all participants to pose questions as well as provide feedback in order to better share best practices related to UPR recommendations for the next cycle.
