CHRC spokesperson reacts against statement of CSO Group
Chin Malin, Vice President and Spokesperson for the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), has reacted against the statement by 60 civil society organisations (CSOs) over the concern of the establishment of the Cambodian national human rights entity.
He posted his reaction on his official Facebook page recently questioning the responsibility of the CSO group when voicing the concern.
According to Malin, it was the CSOs that requested the establishment of the entity back in 1997 and led the process but there was no progress.
To make it happen, the Royal Government assigned the CHRC to lead the work, but while the body has not taken shape yet, the CSO group is voicing concern, he added.
He called on the CSO group to support the leading role of the government to establish the Cambodian national human rights entity and contribute to making it beneficial for the country’s human rights.
