Kandal province: On the morning of 28 May 2026, HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), accompanied by CHRC dignitaries and civil servants, philanthropists, and volunteer doctors, visited the Cambodian Child Development Organisation for the nineteenth time and the New Smile of Hope Children Association for the seventh time in Kandal province to conduct medical checks—including nose, throat, ear, and dental examinations—and to deliver food supplies and other consumables. The visit aimed to improve children’s well-being and quality of life and to mark the upcoming 77th International Children’s Day on 1 June 2026.

It should be noted that HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, frequently makes personal visits and provides food supplies at least once a year and assigns the CHRC working group to deliver food supplies and medicines monthly. These ongoing efforts significantly reduce the burden on both the organisation and the association and support vulnerable children—notably those of incarcerated mothers and other at-risk youngsters—by helping ensure their safety, dignity, and basic rights.

The visit ensures that children at these facilities are entitled to essential rights, including life, physical and mental health, education, and protection from harassment, abuse, and violence, in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Royal Government’s “leave no one behind” policy. [HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, emphasised that] children are the nation’s greatest asset and hope for the future.

Speaking on the occasion, HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, commended the management and staff of both the organisation and the association for their responsible work in caring for, protecting, and advancing children’s fundamental rights—particularly the rights to health, education, and a safe living environment. He affirmed that the facilities operate with respect for children’s rights and reported no incidents of abuse. He added that if any child faces a health issue or requires urgent assistance, the organisation and the association should contact the CHRC for prompt intervention and coordination to ensure timely hospital treatment.

Finally, HE Keo Remy, Senior Minister, urged the management and staff of both the organisation and the association to maintain their careful attention to child care, to prevent any inappropriate conduct or violations of children’s rights, and to encourage children to study diligently so they may become future contributors to the nation. He reiterated the CHRC’s commitment to ongoing support and assistance, and appealed to philanthropists to keep supporting other organisations, associations, and orphanages as expressions of the spirit of humanity, a sharing culture, and active involvement in promoting and protecting children’s rights in Cambodia.
